Ashtead’s legendary restaurant ‘The Curry House 3′ is to close its doors for the final time next week.

Owner Mohammed Fazlul Haque announced that chapati’s over having decided to retire after more than four decades in the industry.

The original ‘The Curry House’ opened in Epsom in 1967, with ‘The Curry House 2′ following some eight years later in Ewell.

After five further years spent searching for a new location and a catchy name for the latest restaurant in his local empire, Mohammed opened ‘The Curry House 3′ in Ashtead in 1980.

The first two Curry Houses closed down many years ago and in just a few days’ time there will be naan left at all.

Whilst its menu may look decidedly dated compared to more recent arrivals, it has proved to be a veritable Ashtead legend and will be greatly missed.

The restaurant’s final day of trading will be Christmas Eve, so there’s still time if you want to poppadom for a farewell meal.
